LASIK is a refractive surgery procedure designed to reduce myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism and improve the quality of uncorrected vision. This is accomplished through the use of an Excimer Laser. The surgical procedure takes only 15 minutes or so for both eyes, and there is hardly any pain during the procedure and after the procedure. Currently it is reported that 800,000 patients undergo LASIK surgery a year in U.S.A. and that more than 17 million patients have undergone the surgery all over the world so far.

iLASIK is a surgical procedure of the highest quality by using both technologies of Intralase and CustomVue. Unlike the traditional LASIK, it provides an opportunity to achieve tailor-made vision correction for each individual patient based on his / her corneal condition measured in a micron unit.

Compared with the traditional surgical procedure by using microkeratome, IntraLase femtosecound laser enables producing a smooth thin flap of surface corneal tissue which has uniform thickness and is stronger than the traditional flap. Also, the postoperative wrinkle and gap on the flap hardly happens and that the postoperative complications decrease since the cut end of the flap becomes the right angle.

Corneal shape of each individual is different as each fingerprint differs. With CustomVue, we can measure the shape of cornea at an accuracy of 25 times than the examination technique that would prescribe conventional normal glasses and contact lenses and also use an original laser irradiation program for each individual, based on his/her own corneal shape. As a result, his/her vision quality improves substantially even if the eyesight is the same.

Before commencing the surgical procedure, the eye is anesthetized with topical eye drops.

A thin corneal flap of uniform thickness is created on the outer layer of the eye by using Femtosecound laser.

The flap is lifted up

By irradiating Excimer laser, myopia, presbyopia and astigmatism are corrected by correcting the irregularities of the corneal surface.

The corneal flap is put back to the original position.

The flap automatically adsorbs on the outer layer of the eye.
